If you have listened to our Holiday Message then you know that we do many project involving data cleanup and transfer. Sometimes it can get confusing as Autodesk loves their TLAs (Three Letter Acronyms). You will often hear VaultBCP and VaultDTU discussed when you want to move your data to the Autodesk Vault.
What is Vault BCP? It stands for The Autodesk Vault Bulk Copy Process. What is VaultDTU? It is the Autodesk Vault Data Transfer Utility. What is the difference? In my opinion, there is no difference. Although the DTU is often referred to as the software that Autodesk created to transfer information from one system (think File Explorer, Enovia, Windchill, Teamcenter, etc.) to Autodesk Vault, the VaultBCP was the name of the software when I was working there.
How can you get the BCP or DTU? Good question. There are very few who have access to the software and it has to be given directly by Autodesk. Why? This software is not very user friendly and takes someone who understands vault under the hood, what causes errors, and frankly what they are doing. There is no help line if you destroy your vault. That is where Nfluencr comes in. We use the product often and know how to get the information that we need from the existing system. We also use cO toolkits to clean the data before import. The BCP/DTU does not do that.
So if your looking for more information on Autodesk Vault Data Transfer Utility reach out to info@nfluencr.net and we will be happy to answer your questions.
